Upcoming Intergroup event: Putting equality in the Multiannual Financial Framework

Next week the Intergroup will co-host a seminar on the Rights and Citizenship Programme recently proposed by the European Commission. This is the ‘equality chapter’ of the European Union’s 7-year budget, the Multiannual Financial Framework.

The European Parliament strongly condemns Russia’s LGBT censorship laws

Today the European Parliament adopted a resolution on the upcoming presidential election in Russia, where it clearly denounces Russian laws which forbid the public mention of homosexuality or gender identity to minors.

MEPs speak out against homophobic and transphobic censorship laws in Russia

The Legislative Assembly of Saint Petersburg is about to adopt a new law banning the “propaganda of sodomy, lesbianism, bisexualism and transgenderism” to minors, including in public. Members of the European Parliament have repeated their opposition to censorship.

Two more arrests for homosexuality in the north of Cyprus

Two men were brought before a court in the northern part of Cyprus, accused of having taken part in ‘acts against nature’. The northern part of Cyprus is the last territory in Europe where homosexuality is a crime.
